Matt Bomer will be joining the “Freak Show.”

The “White Collar” star has been added to the cast of “American Horror Story” for one episode, Ryan Murphy revealed this weekend.

Murphy has worked with Bomer previously on his shows “The New Normal” and “Glee,” where Bomer played Darren Criss’ character’s older borther, as well as HBO’s “Normal Heart,” for which Bomer is up for an Emmy. Murphy told Entertainment Weekly, which first broke the news, that he had to work around Bomer’s schedule for the upcoming “Magic Mike” sequel to secure the role.

Bomer joins several newcomers, including “The Hunger Games” actor Wes Bentley, Michael Chiklis, “The Normal Heart’s” Finn Wittrock, “Fargo’s” John Carroll Lynch, the world’s smallest living woman Jyoti Amge and Patti LaBelle. The returning cast includes Kathy Bates, Jessica Lange, Frances Conroy, Angela Bassett, Emma Roberts, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Gabourey Sidibe.

The official description for “Freak Show” is as follows: “Freak Show begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. The year is 1952. A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience.”

“American Horror Story: Freak Show” is set to premiere on FX Oct. 8. Watch the latest creepy teaser for the show below.

American Horror Story: Freakshow Adds Magic Mike’s Matt Bomer in “Warped” Role

One of film and television’s most handsome leading men is about to get “warped.” American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy has courted Matt Bomer for a role that may very well change the way we look at the actor. Best-known for dressing up on USA’s White Collar and dressing all the way down in 2012’s Magic Mike, Bomer already went fairly dark with Murphy’s HBO film The Normal Heart earlier this year. Murphy told Entertainment Weekly:
I try to get him to do everything for me. I sent him a text that said, “First right of refusal, here’s the role.” It’s very…warped.
Though Bomer’s journey into darkness in The Normal Heart won him both a Critic’s Choice Award and an Emmy nomination, it will be interesting to see him play not just anguish, but genuine evil. The gonzo nature of American Horror Story has, for three seasons, provided an excellent platform for both newcomers like Evan Peters and veterans like Jessica Lange to make a real splash. Peters’ work on American Horror Story opened up doors for him, landing him a scene-stealing role in this summer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past and Lange’s incomparable scenery-chewing has introduced her to an entirely new generation of fans. So what might this chance to play very much against his matinee idol looks do for Bomer, a star already on the rise? Tune in on October 8 to find out.

American Horror Story is adding Matt Bomer to Freak Show.

The White Collar star will pop in to the FX anthology for one episode, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

As first reported by EW, showrunner Ryan Murphy approached his Normal Heart Emmy nominee for the gig. Details on Bomer's character — like all things AHS — are being kept under wraps but Murphy described the role as "warped."

AHS marks the latest Murphy project for Bomer, who in addition to HBO's Emmy-nominiated movie The Normal Heart also had an arc on Fox's Glee as Blaine's (Darren Criss) older brother.

Bomer joins returning AHS stars in Freak Show including Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, Gabourey Sidibe and Evan Peters. New faces joining AHS this season include Michael Chiklis, The Hunger Games' Wes Bentley, Fargo's John Carroll Lynch, The Normal Heart's Finn Wittrock and the world's smallest living woman, Jyoti Amge. Patti LaBelle will also appear in a four-episode arc.

AHS returns Oct. 8. Here's the formal logline: "American Horror Story: Freak Show begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. The year is 1952. A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience."

There will be nothing white collar — or normal — about Matt Bomer’s next TV gig.

EW has learned that the Emmy nominee will guest star on one episode of American Horror Story: Freak Show. Creator Ryan Murphy broke the news himself at EW’s Emmy Party saying he’s excited to reunite once again with the “amazing” actor, who is nominated this year for his performance in The Normal Heart, also directed by Murphy.

“I try to get him to do everything for me,” Murphy told EW. “I sent him a text that said, ‘First right of refusal, here’s the role.’ It’s very…warped.” Murphy said he had to work around Bomer’s schedule filming Magic Mike 2 in order to make the appearance work.

American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres on FX on Wednesday, October 8th.
