Anthony Callea says his grandparents are to blame for his love of Grease.

“When they used to baby sit us as kids, they put on either Grease or The Sound of Music to entertain us,” he said.

Later this year, Callea will swap the living room for the Lyric Theatre, as he takes on the role of rock ‘n’ roll Rydell High student Johnny Casino in a new production of Grease.

He'll sing classics like Those Magic Changes and Tears on My Pillow in his first stage show since Wicked in 2008.

“I haven’t really jumped at a lot of shows, and I’m not going to do it just for the sake of doing it, but this one I really wanted to do,” he said.

“It’s great the pieces have fallen together and I can do it.”

Callea came to fame as runner-up in 2004’s Australian Idol competition, with his debut single The Prayer selling over 280,000 copies.

He recorded the albums Anthony Callea and A New Chapter, before splitting with label Sony and recording 2012 EP Last to Go as an independent artist.

Next month, he’ll release his third album, Thirty, recorded with ABC Universal.

Callea said he wanted to put together an album that reflected the musical tastes and influences of his life so far.

“Because I recently turned 30, not that I look it, I know,” he joked.

Callea said he had a clear vision of how he wanted the project to go, including which covers he would sing along with original material.

“I haven’t had to fight for one thing, which is a beautiful thing, they’ve been great to work with.”

“It’s been the most enjoyable experience that I’ve ever done,” he said.

Callea said he’s worked hard since his Idol break, but admitted that the show ? which also uncovered his Grease co-star Rob Mills ? gave him the chance to work hard.

“There’s not one minute I ever regret walking into that audition room,” he said.

“It taught me a lot, and I wouldn’t be able to do what I do these days without that launchpad.”

Another one of Callea’s co-stars is Bert Newton, whom he worked with during Wicked.

Newton will play smooth-talking disc jockey Vince Fontaine ? despite undergoing quadruple heart bypass surgery only four months ago.

“I was actually hanging out with Patti last week, and she said ‘Bert will never stop working!’” said Callea.

“I said ‘You just need to go on a holiday’ and she said ‘Please, I don’t know what that word means!'"

Callea described Newton as “cheeky”, but a true professional.

“He was very cool to share a dressing room with ? I think I was more of a diva than him!”

Zachary Quinto & His Doggies Take A Stroll In Cambridge, Zachary Ready For Marriage?
March 9th, 2013

There’s just something so wonderful about a hot dude all bundled up and walking his dogs.

And believe you me, these shots of Zachary Quinto doing just that are super wonderful. The Star Trek star was spotted in Cambridge, Massachusetts earlier today where he is currently starring as Tom in The Glass Menagerie over at A.R.T. I love that he’s this big movie star, but still loves doing theatre. Also, he's starring in it with Cherry Jones! Love her!

Zachary did get asked for an autograph during his walk, but unfortunately had to decline as he was off to do a matinee and an evening performance. Now, what's all this about getting married?

Well you know how adorable Zachary and his boyfriend, Jonathan Groff, are, right? Well, apparently Zachary might be popping the question to Jonathan any day now. A source told PerezHilton, “It's by far the happiest relationship he’s ever been in. They’ve been serious for a while now, but things have heated up since they started living together.”

A wedding! I love weddings! Drinks all around! The proposal hasn't happened just yet, but we're hoping it happens soon! Any of you east coast folks have a chance to check out The Glass Menagerie? Think he and Jonathan would make a good married couple? Sound off in the comments!

James Franco: 'It is partly my fault' that people think I'm gay

James Franco: ‘It is partly my fault’ that people think I’m gay

James Franco said it was partly his fault that people
had questioned whether or not he was gay
Actor James Franco has said that he has no problem with people questioning his sexuality, and said that it was “partly my fault” when discussing rumours that he might be gay.

In an interview with Attitude magazine, the 34-year-old actor and director addressed questions around his sexuality, and went on to say that he thinks it is time for high-profile actors in Hollywood to come out.

“One of the things that’s very much part of my public image is the question of my sexuality,” he said, “It’s not something that bothers me in the slightest. It hasn’t gone away and I get asked about it from all sides. It’s partly my doing and partly not my doing.”

Addressing fears that gay actors wouldn’t be able to land straight roles, he said: ”I think that the people I have known who are performers who haven’t publicly come out didn’t because they’re afraid it’ll hurt their careers. And they’re afraid they won’t be able to play straight roles anymore.

“I think I could see a really big name coming out and doing that,” the 127 Hours star continued.

“I think the time is about right. I’m not an authority on this but if I think about it for a second…if there’s somebody that was well respected and very secure with their career, I could see it happening in a very positive way.”

Not the first time Franco has been subject to rumours in the media about his sexuality, in 2011, after rumours that he had been dating a man, he was falsely accused of assaulting him. Franco’s lawyers warned off two gossip magazines because no complaint was ever filed with the police, and the accuser later admitted he had ever met the star.

Then, hinting at further gossip about his sexuality, he told the magazine: “I was in Milk, a movie I felt strongly about. Some more great rumours will be coming up.”

A long time advocate for gay rights, Franco has a history of taking on gay film roles, which has inevitably stoked curiosity about his sexuality. In a 2011 interview he said “maybe I’m just gay”.

He recently teamed up with a gay art-porn director to produce and star in an indie film which re-imagines footage lost from the 1980 film Cruising which starred Al Pacino. Franco’s film, Cruising, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last Friday.

The full interview will be available to read in Attitude magazine, which comes out on Wednesday.
