Hollyoaks actor Kieron Richardson has announced the exciting news he is engaged to boyfriend Carl Hyland.

The 28-year-old, who is best known for playing Ste Hay in the long-running Channel 4 soap, told The Mirror he hopes to wed his beau early next year.

‘I just got engaged. It's really exciting. We've been together for over seven years so it's not a shock,’ he explained to the publication.

Kieron hopes to have a low-key ceremony that’s full of surprises.

‘Depending on storylines, we're hoping to squeeze it in next year. I don't want it to be a cold wedding, but then I don't want to be too hot, so it'll be spring,’ he said.
‘Not even my mum knows some of the things I have in mind,’ he explained.

The popular star came out in 2010 when he revealed on national television that, like his on-screen character Ste, he is gay as well.

'I am gay in real life and at 20 years old I kind of accepted it myself and now I can finally relate to my character Ste that he is 20 and he's going through things that I went through in my past,’ he said at the time.

Keeping it low key: The 28-year-old wants a small ceremony that's full of surprises

The happy news came shortly after it was confirmed Hollyoaks is the most violent soap opera on British television, beating EastEnders to the title after it had 11.5 violent scenes per hour last year in comparison to the BBC One programme's 2.1, according to Ofcom.

The soap - which is currently following a harrowing domestic abuse and rape storyline - has even overtaken ITV's Coronation Street, which has remained steady at three violent scenes per hour, as well as Emmerdale's four.

Hollyoaks came under fire from Ofcom last year and was labelled too ‘violent and shocking’ for pre-watershed viewing after a character was pushed under a train in a disturbing scene in August 2013.
A Channel 4 spokesman said during the furore 'We are committed to ensuring all Hollyoaks storylines are appropriate for a pre-watershed audience.'

Hollyoaks stars in anti-abuse ads

The Wanted are appearing in adverts focussing on abusive teenage relationship
05 December 2013

Hollyoaks actors and pop stars appear in new television adverts launched today to highlight abusive behaviour in teenage relationships.

Two different advertising campaigns were co-produced with MTV and soap opera Hollyoaks t o support the Home Office campaign This is Abuse.

Charities and campaigners said young women are being subjected to coercive 'sexting' and groping in school corridors, as well as physical abuse and rape.

In the first advert, which will run across all MTV channels and online, pop musicians Example, Jason Derulo and boy-band The Wanted deal with myths about consent and 'call out' abusive relationships

The second advert focuses on the abusive relationship of Hollyoaks couple Maxine Minniver, played by Nikki Sanderson and Patrick Blake, played by Jeremy Sheffield, and deals with non-physical abuse. It will air for the first time during tonight's episode of the drama on Channel 4.

Charities End Violence Against Women, Respect and AVA are supporting the campaign.

End Violence Against Women Coalition director Holly Dustin said: " We need to wake up to the fact that girls and young women are subject to distressingly high levels of abuse from boyfriends and other peers including coercive 'sexting', 'groping' in school corridors, as well as physical abuse and rape.

"So we applaud the Home Office for making a long term investment in the essential task of preventing abuse through its long running 'This Is Abuse' campaign to tackle harmful attitudes and behaviours.

"This should now be built upon with work in schools around consensual and respectful relationships, and ensuring specialist support for young survivors and abusers."

A spokesperson for Respect and AVA said: " The 'This Is Abuse' website provides important support to the many young people whose lives are affected by serious abuse.

"Respect and AVA are pleased to bring our expertise to this service, we know it is a lifeline for many young people and we are committed to ensure the service provides the help they deserve."

A new 'In The Know' section, specifically aimed at boys, has been added to the 'This is Abuse' website, designed to help them understand the campaign's messages.

'Hollyoaks': Jeremy Sheffield on Patrick's 'evil' side and future

Hollyoaks newcomer Patrick Blake may have seemed like a nice guy when he made his debut last November, but viewers have since seen glimpses of a much darker side to his personality.

As revealed in our other reports in recent days, Patrick steps up his controlling behaviour next week as he is horrified to learn that daughter Sienna and son Dodger have been visiting their troubled mother Anna at the care home.

Not wanting his family to have any contact with Anna, the college headteacher becomes threatening and forces her to reject her children in emotional scenes.

Digital Spy recently chatted to Jeremy Sheffield, who plays Patrick, to hear his thoughts on his character's startling behaviour.

How are you finding your time at Hollyoaks?
"I'm loving it a hundred times more than I thought I would! I was looking forward to it, but I had no idea that I'd enjoy it this much. All of the cast members have become really good friends, and that's probably the most important single factor for me at work. We get along more than any other cast I've worked with, and I've had some really good casts in the past.

"We all live quite close to each other and we go out together. That's been a fantastic experience. The other great thing is living in Liverpool. I'd never been to the city before, but I've completely fallen in love with it. I really couldn't have asked for life at Hollyoaks to be any better."

Did you audition for the role of Patrick or did Hollyoaks approach you to join?
"They approached me, very kindly! I'm still not entirely sure how it came about, but I had a phone call and they offered me the part. I had a meeting with Rick Laxton, who's the head of casting at Hollyoaks, and he told me all about the character of Patrick. Once I started hearing what Patrick was all about, I knew it was something that I'd really like to play."

How do you feel about playing a character with a real sinister side?
"It's a lot of fun! You've probably heard this all before, but the baddies are always the best parts to play. I suppose it's because you're allowed to behave in a way that you never would in real life. It gives you an excuse to do things that would be completely unacceptable otherwise, but that's part of what being an actor is all about.

"I think Patrick is a very complex man. I'm trying to play somebody who could be real - who could be your neighbour, your child's headmaster, or somebody who lives round the corner. I'd like him to be somebody who is believable, but also can be horrifically evil at times!"

Did you always know Patrick had a dark side, or did these more recent scripts come as a surprise to you?
"I definitely knew it was coming, and that was one of the main attractions of the role for me. I've played middle class nice people before and I've had a lovely time doing it, but to have that whole other level and a real dark side is much more exciting for an actor."

How does Patrick feel when Sienna decides to visit Anna in the care home next week?
"Patrick is very clear in his own mind about this. His morals are very clear and his ethics are very clear. He believes wholeheartedly that Anna is deranged and that she is dangerous for his children to be around. He genuinely believes that, and he does not see himself as being the reason for it! (Laughs.)

"Patrick is concerned about Sienna having anything to do with Anna. There's also the fact that Anna can reveal things about Patrick that he doesn't want his children to know.

"Like all of Patrick's behaviour, he justifies it to himself as being the appropriate behaviour given that Anna is dangerous. He can back that up with fact, as she attempted to kill his children. For that reason, he's determined to make sure that Sienna and Dodger don't go to see her - or have any contact with her at all."

Patrick and Anna

We'll also see Patrick being quite threatening towards Anna at the care home…
"Yes, this is a scene which is loaded with history. This couple have been in each other's lives for many, many years and the dynamic has been the same for all those years. Patrick has had complete power over Anna. That's what he strives for in all of his relationships and all aspects of his life - control and power. To him, that's completely normal and he doesn't see it as abusive.

"Saskia Wickham, who plays Anna, is fantastic in this scene. In a way, I have to do very little as an actor in scenes with her, because of her performance. Saskia immediately gives me that power as Anna crumbles whenever he's in the vicinity. That's because he's spent years grinding her down.

"So this scene is a clear vision of their history together, and it's how the dynamic of this relationship has always been. Patrick has created this dynamic because, in his mind, Anna is a very dangerous woman who needs to be controlled. It's quite terrifying!"

Next week we'll also see Patrick helping Maxine with her reading. Is he just being friendly, or is there an ulterior motive?
"Oh, there's definitely an ulterior motive! I'm not sure Patrick is aware of this, though. He's not pre-meditated or psychotic - in his mind, he's able to help Maxine and he likes to play that role. Of course, as an audience, we see that as somebody who's controlling and manipulative. However, Patrick thinks he's just being helpful!

"Patrick sees an opportunity to help Maxine, and it's a dynamic he's drawn to again and again throughout his life. You can imagine it being very similar to the beginning of the relationship he had with Anna. We haven't been through an exact scenario of how Anna and Patrick met, but you could well imagine it's the same as how he's met Maxine.

"He's found a vulnerability in Maxine, so that piques his interest and starts to draw him towards her. The audience will definitely be suspicious that this could be something more sinister…"

Jeremy with co-star Nikki Sanderson, who plays Maxine

Have you had much reaction from the public yet for playing Patrick?
"I have had quite a bit! Out in Liverpool, there are a lot of locals who watch the show. Initially it was, 'Oh, you're Dodger's dad!' But recently people have been saying, 'You're Patrick Blake!'

"It's been very interesting, as people have said that they don't think Patrick is going to be very nice! It's great that they've already seen subtle hints of what's to come. The audience are definitely picking up on the fact that there's something not quite right about this man…"

Are there any cast members you'd like to share more screen time with?
"I've worked with most people already, but I haven't worked with many of the McQueens apart from John Paul, so I'd love to do more with them. Although I'm not sure how that would come about and how they'd end up in the same room together, because they live in such different worlds.

"I also haven't done much with Nick Pickard, and I think some scenes with his character Tony would be more possible as their ages aren't too different."

With the British Soap Awards voting continuing, is there anything you would say in support of Hollyoaks?
"Well, I'm not an expert on soap, but I do get a very strong sense that the show is in the middle of a big change and an improvement. I believe that ratings have gone up, while storylines and writing are improving all the time. Hopefully the audience are seeing that, and it would be really nice for that to be recognised."

Ex-Corrie star Jeremy Sheffield joins Hollyoaks

The actor will play Dodger’s biological father

Blake lively... Jeremy and Emily will play Patrick and Sienna Blake

Look out, Hollyoaks — Dodger’s family are heading your way!

Former Coronation Street star Jeremy Sheffield is returning to soapland to play Dodger Savage’s biological father, Patrick Blake.

And he’ll be joined in the village by Emily Lawrence, who will star as Sienna — the twin sister Dodger (Danny Mac) never knew he had.

Jeremy becomes the second former Street star to sign up for Hollyoaks in as many weeks, following the announcement that Nikki Sanderson — who played Corrie hairdresser Candice Stowe — will make her debut as Mitzeee’s sister Maxine Minniver next month.

”I’m very happy to be joining Hollyoaks at a time when things are getting very exciting...” says Jeremy, 46, who memorably thrilled soap fans at the start of the year as Danny Stratton, who swept Becky McDonald off her feet and away from Weatherfield for a new life in Barbados.

Cheers... Jeremy as Corrie's Danny
Dodger was devastated earlier this year when an old family friend revealed that Dirk was not his real dad.

An he’s been suffering an identity crisis ever since.

Now, viewers will see him at last embark on a mission to find his real dad — and he gets even more than he bargained for when he learns he also has a twin sister.

“Joining Hollyoaks is going to be fun and a great experience for me," says newcomer Emily. “It goes without saying that working with Jeremy is brilliant.”

The dramatic storyline will play out on our screens from 19 November.

The GAYS Of DAYTIME- The Blog.: GONE, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN...

[Source]

GONE, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN...

Kieron Hobbs (HOLLYOAKS, poisoned)
Kieron came to Hollyoaks as a priest and fell in love with John-Paul - and who could blame him. Basically as soon as the character appeared on screeen, it was known he was set up to die. When the scene finally aired, a lot of people where actually shocked by how much of a let down it ultimately was... Even worse was the aftermath, with John-Paul not being allowed to grief because both James Sutton and Guy Burnet, who played the storyline's endgame lover, Craig, were on a tight schedule...

Ianto Jones (TORCHWOOD, alien virus)
Ianto died in Jack's arms in CHILDREN OF EARTH when Jack refused to give into the 456's demands. The nasty aliens released a virus, which killed both Jack (for a couple of minutes) and Ianto. Ever since, BBC WALES never had to pay for coffee beans again and there are still areas in TV fandom land that series creator Russell T. Davies should avoid after dark...

Jackson Walsh (EMMERDALE, assisted suicide)
Emmerdale has taken it upon itself to make it absolutely clear that you shouldn't expect it to get better EVER. Life is just one long stream of failures, horrible dramas and depressing situations. After Jackson was hit by a train, he couldn't adjust to his new immobile life and asked his mom and lover to help him end it.

Jesus Velasquez (TRUE BLOOD, stabbed)
No character is safe in TRUE BLOOD and none hurt more than Jesus, who was stabbed to death by his boyfriend Lafayette, who was possessed by an evil spirit, at the end of season 4.

Roman Wild (ALLES WAS ZAEHLT, brain tumor)
After spending years as one half of the gay couple that was ultimately responsible for getting TGoDT started, Dennis Grabosch decided to call it quits and move on. Roman Wild's dramatic death on ice in the arms of his boyfriend was written upon Dennis's request- he wanted no backdoor for his return.

Wow...
There were so many scenes.
In the original blog, there are more episodes. I only chose my favourite scenes.

Kieron Richardson from Hollyoaks (Ste)

This Morning | 15 Sept 2010

An article from Digital Spy
'Oaks actor comes out, confirms gay plot
Wednesday, September 15 2010, 12:42 BST By Ryan Love, Entertainment Reporter

Kieron Richardson has come out as gay in an interview with ITV's This Morning.

The Hollyoaks actor, who also appeared on Dancing On Ice, divulged his sexuality to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

Richardson also revealed that his character Ste would be involved in a plot in which he would question his feelings for Brendan Brady (Emmett Scanlan)

The soap confirmed that the plot would see the pair form an "unusual friendship" as Ste becomes captivated by the bad boy.

The pair kiss on a night out but a disgusted Brendan then rejects Ste, who later admits that he has been attracted to another male before when he spent time in a young offenders' institute.

However, the long-term storyline is set to take a shocking twist when Brendan beats Ste up badly, marking the beginning of a turbulent and troubled relationship.

Hollyoaks series producer Paul Marquess said: "This is a long running storyline and while it is dark to begin with, the lessons that Ste learns are ultimately positive and life affirming.

"This story is about not being afraid to be who you are and while this is something Brendan struggles with, Ste is refreshingly accepting of his feelings towards another man," he continued. "I hope viewers will be glued throughout the twists and turns as we unravel how Brendan came to be the twisted person we have been watching on screen."

Richardson admitted that he was "shocked" to learn about the storyline but added that he was honoured to be given the plot.

He added: "Having understood the long-term storyline I am honoured and very excited to have been given this challenge. Brendan is a dangerous character and it will be interesting to see how Ste copes when he himself is the victim of domestic violence.”

Scanlan confessed that he is glad that Brendan is a becoming "a complex character" and "not a gratuitous soap villain, but a multi-layered character with depth, a troubled past and an unsure future".

He continued: "I hope that as the storyline develops, viewers will be able to understand why Brendan has become the villain they see today. Brendan is compelled to manipulate and control everyone who crosses his path. At the moment this makes him dangerous but when we identify why he behaves this way, we will discover his vulnerabilities and this is exciting..."

The scenes will air later next month.
